Midweek Inspiration | New Comings Against Sadness

I know during this time people can begin to experience sadness and depression. The holidays are not happy for everyone, and for some of us we are experiencing the longer nights of darkness and shorter days of light.

I’ve been finding within recent years that New Year’s has become something really positive for me.

It’s time to reflect on the positive of the year despite the bad.

I’ve had so much stress this year, and a number of things that happened out of my control.

But the beginning of this year was very precious to me because I didn’t know what would happen. I just knew the fear within me, and the uncertainty weighing on my shoulders.

Looking outside the window, and as the rain pelted against the screen, fireworks nearby still rose in the sky. I knew God would do the same. Despite my storms, His light would shine in my darkness.

All I could was lift my hands to God and plead for Him to be there, standing beside me.

And He was, and He is, and He will be.

(NIV) Colossians 4:05, “Make the most of every opportunity.”

What has God gotten you through this year so far?Β

  1. That was very encouraging, T. R. Noble. New Year’s can depress me too. The Lord has given me a sense of looking ahead too every since I was a Christian single event where the leader told us that for whatever lay ahead God was already there. That is a very comforting thought, as you have said! Praying for you! God loves you!

    1. πŸ™‚ there is a lot of uncertainty going on in my life, but I am not at the same place as I was at the beginning of this year. I’ve seen His hand at work, and I know He’ll continue to get us through. Thank you for the prayers πŸ™‚

  2. Thank you for this encouragement, T.R. This truth especially wraps my heart in a God-hug – “Despite my storms, His light would shine in my darkness.” Isn’t it amazing how faithful He is? Yesterday, today, and forever! Love and hugs to you!

  3. Amen! Glory to God! He’s with us forever even until the end of this age! Matthew 11:28 I think lol! Wow! God has brought me through so much this year and still continues to in Jesus Name! Thank you Lord!

  4. Awesome peace of scripture T.R and amen to your trusting of God this year, especially when times were crap!

For me God has been excellent this year. ( he is always excellent but when we go through different seasons we see what he does differently you know what I mean?) After 22 years of smoking ciggies I was finally able to open my hands and trust God in the process of healing. There was so much fear attached to the idea of being smoke free before 7 months ago. God is FAITHFUL that is for sure.

Thanks for sharing your heart once again T.R and for asking about other peoples experiences

  5. The Lord has been encouraging me lately to verbalize my thanks to him more and to be more aware every day of all that I have to be thankful for, plus he has been encouraging me to sing more out loud, for this is what I need to combat the difficulties of my life so that they do not weigh me down.

We just traveled 500 miles today to see family and to be here for a funeral of a family member, so I had lots of time in the car on the way here to express my thanks and I did some singing out loud, too, and it really makes a difference.

Right now I am tired, and I need a good night’s sleep, for before this trip today, we took another trip 400 miles away to visit other family for a week, so we are weary travelers at the moment. And, I am experiencing “jet lag” from the long drive here today.

Thank you, T.R., for what you shared. My birthday is New Year’s Eve, so I always begin the new year a year older, too. πŸ™‚ Good thoughts you shared here! God bless!

    1. My dad’s birthday is the same! My husband and I had to do trips of 800 miles when we lived in Arkansas, I hear you on feeling tired.
Singing out loud can be really powerful, praise God πŸ™‚ Peace, and strength be upon you and your family. ❀
