Ways To Incorporate Christ In Christmas Activities

(Updated October 26th, 2021 – Just edited a few things.)
I know, I know sounds weird.

Christmas IS about Christ many believers tell me.

I…as I mentioned Tuesday, I’m not so sure. I think the intention is there. We WANT it to be about Christ. Sometimes, only pieces are.

But I am finding ways to make SURE He is a part of every single thing I do.

Christmas Tree/Christmas Lights

When Christians first introduced the Christmas tree the tree represented Everlasting life. For quite a time too, the day before Christmas was called, “Adam and Eve,” day. People would look at the tree and teach about God creating the Heavens and the Earth. People would also put apples on the tree to represent Eve’s temptation.

That’s pretty powerful.

If you have a Christmas tree, think of how we are the branches. Each ornament think of how the Holy Spirit produces fruit in us.

The fruit of the Spirit that comes from the fruit of righteousness, which is only received through Jesus Christ. He imputes His righteousness to us for all who put their faith in Him. He, and He alone, lived a perfect life, took our sin on the cross and the wrath of God that was meant for us. He paid off our debt with His life and blood. He reconciled us to God, for all who put their faith in Him.

Christmas Lights

Think of how Christ is the True Vine, and He shows us how to be the light on the hill.

Symbolism Christmas lights on a Christmas tree, the Vine, and His branches, which go back to the tree. The Father prunes those who are producing fruit so they produce more.

Baking Cookies/Meal

Think about how we cannot live on bread alone, but on the Word of God. Think about the body of Christ, and what the Gospel does for all sinners.

Wrapping Gifts

For each gift, as you wrap, pray to God. Pray for the person you are wrapping the gift for. Pray for God to touch their life. Pray for what the person is struggling with. Pray for how you could be a witness and blessing for that person.

Pray to God and think of His greatest gift He’s given us.

When Signing/Making Christmas Cards

Think of-

The prophesies and promises of the coming Messiah. The promises we have now in Jesus Christ.

The messages Christ spent His entire life on preaching.

The message of hope He gives us from His salvation.

Pray for the salvation of those around you.

Wherever we are, take time for Him.

If we proclaim Christmas is about Him, we need to make it about Him.

These are things I’m working on.

  1. Great ideas, T.R. Regarding Christmas cards, I also like to add a personal note thanking the person or family to whom the card is addressed for what they bring to my life. A few words of encouragement and love mean so much to me, and I’m sure kind words must edify others as well. What better time to express appreciation than at Christmas?

  2. I like about the lights and tree. Don’t think I have ever heard it like that. Someone once said as we are wrapping presents that our Savior was wrapped in the manger. Thanks for sharing. Blessings and Merry Christmas!
