Song Sunday

Song Sunday | Define Me (Jonny Diaz)

I do not usually listen to songs that talk about the devil. Often times songs tend to somewhat aggressive toward Satan and insulting. The arcangel Michael wasn’t even accusative of Satan. There is just no point to get that passionate. It is not about our power, but the power of Christ in us. Never forget that. It is as simple as “Get behind me, Satan.”

But this song, which has recently been released I really enjoy. When I first heard it a couple of days ago, I found strength in it. I also know many of you are Jonny Diaz fans, so here you go! One of his newest songs,

Define Me, by Jonny Diaz

The song begins showing how Satan will not come to us in a stereotypical way. But he is searching this world and he will use our weaknesses against us.

We are not to show fear. We are not to believe lies. We are not defined by deception. Christ has walked forward for us and we find strength in Christ.

Satan will use division among people and believers. He succeeds when we argue with each other and tear each other down.

Jesus Christ is the One who defines us. He gives us the victory. He knows us. He hears us. We have authority in Christ against darkness. Never forget this. Cling to Christ, and the devil will flee!

      1. Haha, that’s like me and movies– I hear people raving about some movie or TV show and then I inevitably don’t “join the fandom” until at least a year (or two or three or four…) later.
Thanks again for sharing this song (and I now I feel honored knowing this song after its being out only a week! lol!). ❤

      2. 🙂 I’m the same. There’s no real reason for it, but for me, when something becomes really popular it turns me off slightly to want to see it or listen to it. I’m a fan of a number of things but to get into something, I don’t want to get into it just because “everyone else” likes it, that kind of thing. I hear you! 🙂

  1. Cause all of your power has been swept away, your threats are as empty as Jesus grave. – POW!

    We are defined by deception?

I can see why you stay away from songs about he devil T.R. Watched a sermon recently and the dude was giving a little commentary on how often secular music can sound more positive than Christian music. Interesting.

Hope you had a relaxing weekend

    1. That’s an interesting perspective the pastor gave. I don’t believe that, but I do understand where he is coming from. We always need to be aware not only of what we listen to but what we watch as well. My weekend has been quiet. I haven’t been feeling well, so I’ve been trying to rest. Thank you!

Yes, that line from the song is one of my favorite lines! So powerful!
