Midweek Inspiration | Lord, Are You Willing

On Sunday I planned to go outside and work on my book. Just as I was walking out the front door to the balcony my flash drive, which was attached to my laptop, hit the side of the wall and became crooked. It was the only place that held the contents of what I was working on. I worked on giving it to the Lord. I retrieved what I could and starting to prepare myself to write the remaining half that was lost. As I waited for my husband to let me know if he could fix the flash drive, I gave the issue to the Lord because I had just read Luke 5 the previous night, and I knew I had to ask…”Lord, are You willing?”

He was. ❤ This poem is inspired because of what He has done.

Lord, are You willing Screen Shot 2018-04-24 at 8.47.28 PM.png

because the situation looks grim.

I can’t do this.

Please hear on this prayer’s whim.

This problem was my fault. Screen Shot 2018-04-24 at 9.05.13 PM.png

Something I didn’t intend.

But it happened nonetheless.

And I’m gripping its end.

Months of work lost

and the struggling nights.

I hate to admit

but tears are a sight.

Lord, are You willing

because I’m willing too.

If this is of You then

You’ll make the prayer come true.

But if not, no worries. Screen Shot 2018-04-24 at 9.08.02 PM.png

I am not blaming You.

You’ve loved me through much worse,

and time is in Your course.

You’ll guide me like before.

Give me the words to hear.

Because no matter what

You always remain near.

But should You answer, Lord.

I want you to know.

This will not be forgotten

and my words will tell to show.

You fight through the impossible. Screen Shot 2018-04-24 at 9.09.11 PM.png

You craft what is broken.

Holding our hearts in one hand

and healing with words spoken.

Lord, You are willing.

Help me get through.

Help me reach others.

so they can hear You, too.

Praise be to His name.

How has God been willing in your life?

  1. That is so scary! To nearly lose so much work! I’m glad you got it back.

The poem is something I can definitely relate to and appreciate. God works in the smallest of ways, even through one little flash drive!

    1. He is amazing!!!

Actually, I’ve been meaning to ask you. I keep thinking of you when I think of people who may be a potential test reader. I know you love reading, but I also know you get busy too. I wasn’t sure if you would be interested in being a test reader for me? If you are interested in learning more, let me know, and I’ll send you an email. The main thing I need from test readers is pure feedback that’s all. Not editing or anything like that. 🙂

  2. i love how you rhymed worse and course. im going to take a wild leap into imagination land and assume that when you talk about months of work being lost you are referring to a tragedy i can relate to of something you have written suddenly disappearing on you. i dont know if you can explain why it happened to you but i rested my laptop on my djembe. big mistake. it went flying in the air and boom landed on the tiles. maybe if we had carpet its fall woulda been cushioned. did you manage to recover your lost work if it is indeed the kind of work i assume it is? i love your deliberate vagueness in your choice of words enabling them to relate to relationships or projects of all shapes and sizes people are involved in which turn to dust. i love that you dont blame God when tragedy strikes but just see His strength working pulling you through it 😉

    1. Yes, at the beginning of this poem I’ve shared that I broke my flash drive and God provided my husband to be able to fix it. So this poem was inspired by those events. I’ve lost material before on my book, and had to rewrite it, but I’m very thankful that God always has provided. I’m glad this spoke to you!

      1. praise God that your husband fixed it. its a tragedy that we will never know what might have been if your story had been written differently but perhaps it worked out for the best. He works all things together for the good of those who believe who are called according to HIs purpose- romans 8:28.
