Yes! This is the 400th post of Inside Cup. *Fireworks
I just want to thank everyone again for joining me on this journey. I can’t grow as a writer and blogger if I have no community. Every single one of you who has taken the time to read, comment, follow, and be my friend, I thank you.
A while ago, I shared a post of scriptures on fear, and I know we all can bond over scriptures. Which is why I am planning on having more of these posts so if you are looking for scriptures to study, meditate on, and pray with, these posts can help with that.
Fear is one of the most crippling enemies we are best friends with. Fear is the neighbor that invites Worry to my heart’s home. I know I’m not alone, and I hope the following scriptures speak to your heart as well!! 🙂
Fearing Situations
(NIV) Jeremiah 42:11, “Do not be afraid of the king of Babylon, whom you now fear. Do not be afraid of him, declares the LORD, for I am with you and will save you and deliver you from his hands.”
– First of all, how powerful is this statement, right? Israel was captured by Babylon because the Lord’s people did not listen to Him, for many, many years. Yet, here is the Lord, even through trials and punishment reminding them that HE IS STILL WITH THEM! We are the same! God is with us at all times. He is with us when we have stepped into traps and snares willingly. He is with us when life tries to burden us, when others lie to us, and when others pull us down.
He is always with us!!
Fearing Others
(NIV) Ezekiel 2:06, “And you, son of man, do not be afraid of them or their words. Do not be afraid, though briers and thorns are all around you and you live among scorpions. Do not be afraid of what they say or be terrified by them, though they are a rebellious people. You must speak my words to them, whether they listen or fail to listen, for they are rebellious.”
– This is the scripture I need as a writer a lot, and when I need to speak up and simply trust God. In this world, it’s easy for people to lay in on their opinions and views of us and of God. It’s easy for us to become afraid and intimidated to speak up. Following the previous scripture, the Lord is with us. When we are proclaiming what He teaches and what He puts on our hearts it is all about Him. It’s about us trying to direct others to Him. Whether they listen or not.
Fearing Our Calling
(NIV) Jeremiah 1:08, “Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you,” declares the LORD.”
-Following our fear of others, this same fear can trouble us when it comes to our calling, and the gifts God gives us. When He places something on our heart, when He gives us an opportunity, we can struggle to trust Him. I’ve been hearing the phrase, “He doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called,” and this couldn’t be truer. He equips us WHEN we step out, not before. We aren’t meant to be mighty and powerful. We are strong in our weakness for a reason. Glory goes to God. He will take care of us. The Lord did not create us to fail, but if we aren’t with Him, He can’t help us.
When We Don’t Know It’s Jesus
(NIV) John 6:20, “But He said to them, “It is I; don’t be afraid.”
– Can you see the main theme recurring here? He is with us. I can’t count how many times I have had something scary happen to me or I feel completely overwhelmed and I cry out to Him, “Lord, God please be with me.” Not that it is wrong to ask Him to be present with us. But how often, truthfully, do we like act He isn’t with us. Or we act like He doesn’t have His plan and purpose coming together for us, even when things are uncertain and do not make sense.
Fear’s True Purpose And Who It Goes To
(NIV) Psalm 34:09, “Fear the LORD, you His holy people, for those who fear Him lack nothing.”
– The only One we ever need to fear is the Lord. Fear the One who can create and destroy in a blink of an eye. How powerful is that? We can have people hurt us, and try to make us fear them, and I’m telling you right now, our Lord outranks EVERYONE! There is no one else in all creation who can compare, who can defeat, who is as awesome as He is. Not one.
When our fear is on Him in awe, respect, and yes, trembling, there is great strength and trust in the Lord as well. As scripture says, when we fear Him above all else, we will lack nothing.
Praise the Lord!
Amen.

Wonderful scriptures! I cling to Psalm 91:5 and Psalm 118:6… which is technically the same as Hebrews 13:6.

Praise God, Almighty!! 🙂
I apologize about the delayed email! I’m finishing my last week visiting family so things keep coming up and I get distracted. I plan to get all emails out to people by next week, so if I am delayed more, I apologize.

Good words!
One of my favorites is 2 Timothy 1:7 – “God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, of love, and of a sound mind.”
I also love Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous! Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” NASB

Happy 400! Praise the Lord, T. R.!
Whenever I start to feel like I’m so alone, and I’m never going to be able to do this, a good thing to remember is that I won’t. But God will. I just think a quick prayer, “God, (or Lord, or Daddy, or Father, or whatever comes out) please help me to sense your presence. Give me peace and make me unshakable.” Something like that. And immediately, I feel calmer.
I love all the verses you shared, and others shared in the comments. I also like the song, “No Thief Like Fear,” by Jason Gray. Really hits the nail on the head!
Great post as usual, T. R. 🌞

Amen!!! I know so many times I’ve asked for reassurance because He knows what He is doing, but I certainly don’t. ❤ Praise the Lord for always being there and bearing us with His patience. Oh, I may have to look up that song!!! 🙂

Praises to God for your 400th post! Wow! Those scriptures really spoke to me. I cling to I think its 1 Timothy 3:6? I can’t recall the location but I know the entire scripture well. May God continue to use you.

Oh, it’s in 2 Timothy I believe. But you’re talking about the spirit God gives us, and not one of fear. Yes, it’s one of my favorites too 🙂

Congratulations on 400 posts! 🎊 My blog has just over 400 posts as well. 🙂
Thank you for the encouraging verses! ❤ We should definitely only fear Him! I really like Psalm 27:1: "The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?" 🙂 In addition to verses, I also really like the song No Longer Slaves: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QANH8MWuyaE 🎵"I'm no longer a slave to fear, I AM A CHILD OF GOD." 🎶
P.S.: Love your new profile photo!
