Last year, I posted the song Lead Me, by Sanctus Real and today’s song was a close tie. But I knew I could use this song for this year, and I’m so happy to introduce you to it.
Father Song, by Jonah33
This song has spoken to me as soon as I heard it when I was a teenager. The chorus alone talks about how God needs to use a boy, not a young man, not a teen, but a boy. God needs a boy to make a man. And boys need a father figure to help them know how to become a man.
Men need to step up in a world with broken families. They need to take charge and protect their families. How different would this world be if we had dads being dads? If we had more people be father or grandfather figures. Putting on love first, and showing their family that love, and leading their sons by example.
But remember this. Just like the song says, God needs us to come to Him as children. Jesus reminds us of this as He taught it. For those who never had a father, who have lost a father, who are struggling because of one, remember that God is your Father. Mankind will fail, but God won’t. Having someone in your life who refused to step up as a father or a father figure does not you are a forsaken child. In fact, scripture says that God takes children in as His own.
So if you are looking for the perfect father, there is only one and His name is Jesus Christ. He takes in the orphans and is close to the brokenhearted. He can heal us and He can help us grow.
For those wanting to step up and hear the call as a father and as a man of God may He lead you as you follow the True Shepherd.
