Why They Sing

Today was an odd day with dozens upon dozens of birds in the sky, which is what inspired this poem. 🙂

I saw so many birds today

soaring through the clouds.

I wondered about their song

and why they flew aloud.

Was it the end of the times?

As they circled like eagle’s wings.

Was it an oncoming storm

the reason why they sing?

Huge raindrops pattered against the pavement.

Yet the birds still flew.

Sunshine danced and mingled.

I thought a rainbow came through.

I never found the rainbow,

but I saw dozens of wings.

Despite darkness, Promise is there.

I know why they sing.

Do you find hope in bird’s singing or the rainbow?

What gives you hope?

  1. Birds often signal the beginning of a new day with their singing… and isn’t there hope in a new day? It is just like Anne of Green Gables used to say, “Tomorrow is a new day with no mistakes in it.” 🙂 ❤
