It Won’t Last Forever (Even If Feels Like It Will)

I was inspired to share this because I know we all could use this reminder. I hope it speaks to you.

The ache was heavy.

My spirit twisted.

Heart weary.

Eyes misted.

Storm raged on.

Raindrops pelted.

Clouds were darkned

Hailstones melted.

Not before they

left their sting.

Black and bruised

and broken-winged.

I thought for sure

this all would end

but clock ticks continue

and only bend.

Time moves on

unlike my plan.

Busted and useless

I cannot stand.

Yet in the dark

a light shimmers.

Withstands the rain

darkness grows dimmer.

A man, His hand

holds out to me.

He takes the stones

and sets me free.

“You’re not alone.

I’m always near.

I hear your voice

and catch your tear.”

While the wind whistles

and the storm rages on

my beloved Savior says

“You can make it till dawn.”

“You can make to the morning.

You can make it to the night.

With Me, My child,

You’re gonna be all right.”

He held me through the morning.

He held me through the night.

The storm was raging,

but my Savior held me tight.

When the clouds roll in

and the thunder roars.

I’ll hold onto Him

and on His wings soar.

  1. I love this! I’ve been going through same family issues that have really slipped me up. This was needed. I’ve learned that as long as you hold on tight you can make it through any trial. This post made me realize what I’ve been holding onto — God.

  2. So profoundly beautiful, TR!! I love this!!

About your question…I’ve been feeling a bit overwhelmed by work and all my commitments. So, when I prayed yesterday, I especially talked to Abba about two items on my “to do” list. Although they were small stuff in the grand scheme, God blessed those two tasks and miraculously enabled me to accomplish them in the brief time that I had… and that grace from God so encouraged me!! Yes, He cares and will continue to carry me. And your poem expresses my experience of His lovingkindness so perfectly, TR!! Thank you!! xo 💜💜
