I like sharing the spotlight, and I like hearing about what speaks to others.
I like on the weekends to have options available. Last week I shared Christian Radio Stations You Can Listen To Online and before I’ve shared 5 Christian Books You Can Download For Free. The radio post is taken care of, and I’ll be able to share more books in time. But I thought about opening the door to you and asking which sermons/talks are your favorite?
Since the end of last year, and especially this year, I want to get into the habit of listening to more sermons. I have a number of sermons on my list I haven’t watched, but I do have some I have. I thought it might be nice to be able to share sermons (that are available online, for free) so others have the opportunity to grow.
PODCASTS AND LECTURES INCLUDED TOO! – I am mainly asking what sermons speak to you, but, for example, Bill Weise shared his account of 23 Minutes in Hell, and that’s not exactly a sermon (I don’t think?) So any topic that falls under scripture, Christ, things Christians deal with, etc. It should be informative. It should have scripture used as a reference as the person speaks. It should encourage us to draw to Christ, to grow, to turn away from this world.
How To Share – Let me know in the comments a link to the sermon or talk you want to share. Give me a description of the sermon or talk. If yours gets chosen, in addition to sharing your choice I will leave a link to your blog’s name as well 🙂 like I did in the radio station post. You can share more than once, but up to five links. If there are certain pastors you enjoy listening to, feel free to give their names. If your link goes to a church website that has multiple sermons make sure to specify which sermon.
I love learning and I hope this is an opportunity for everyone to grow. 🙂
To start this off, I’m listening to a sermon called Saved Or Self-Deceived Pt. 1 by John MacArthur, and wow! He speaks a lot of truth. He explains how to know if we are deceived if others are deceivers. How to truly know if someone is a Christian because in this world many think they are when they aren’t. He quotes Mr. Piper, “The Bible does not offer to the sinner what the sinner naturally wants.”
Comment Below:
Do you have a sermon or talk that really spoke to you?
Monthly Scripture – (NKJ) Proverbs 18:13, “He who answers a matter before he hears it, it is folly and shame to him.”

This message is from Pastor John Houston of Point Harbor Community Church in Chesapeake, Virginia. He was my grandparents’ pastor. God used this message in my life to remind me of the difficulties that do come in the Christian life. I believe that many will appreciate the reality and authenticity of this message.

This message is from Pastor Steven Furtick of Elevation Church. He is an amazing pastor who has several sermons that I feel God has used to speak into my own life. One such sermon is when he is speaking on what types of chains we are currently bound in and how this can affect our relationship with people and with God.

TR, you’re so cruel to force us to only pick five! Haha! But also very wise because if not limited to that my list would be ridiculous. XD Praise God for the men and women of the past and present who faithfully proclaim truth and serve us in that way! I tried to narrow it down to five sermons/resources that have most impacted me. Then I settled for four so that I could also recommend a podcast in general. XD
1. Ten Shekels and a Shirt by Paris Reidhead: http://www.sermonindex.net/modules/mydownloads/singlefile.php?lid=282&commentView=itemComments
This sermon rocked my world (and usually rocks it again every time I re-listen to it, haha). It’s all about how we’ve made the Gospel and our salvation about us instead of about God and His glory. And he points out idolatrous ways we have done this that shocked me – because I realized I was doing them and Christianity at large does them. This sermon is a call to live lives that proclaim, “May the Lamb that was slain receive the reward of His suffering!”
2. Testimony and Challenge by Gladys Aylward: http://www.sermonindex.net/modules/mydownloads/singlefile.php?lid=651&commentView=itemComments
Gladys Aylward is my heroine! It was such a treat to first discover that there is a recording of her out there! She uses her life story to illustrate Malachi 3:10. It is a challenge to surrender all of your life to the Lord, in every way, knowing that He will be faithful – and that surrendering everything to Him is what we’re called to. It is a challenge to give yourself to serving the family of God, knowing that He will supply every one of your needs as you live for the sake of others.
3. A Distracted Devotion by Eric Ludy: https://braveheartedchristian.com/podcasts/eric-ludy-sermon-podcast-church-at-ellerslie/a-distracted-devotion
I have been deeply impacted by the ministry and sermons of Eric Ludy, but this one was a turning point message for me. It uses the story of Jacob to illustrate how we in life so often grab onto “heels” to try to find the power to live out a holy, righteous, powerful Christian life, instead of grabbing onto only Jesus. It is challenging; it is a call to wrestle with God until there is breakthrough. There is a life of victory in Jesus to be had; the secret is grabbing onto the correct Source for the power to live that life! (And if I may, I would also recommend any of the sermons put out by The Church at Ellerslie. 🙂 https://ellersliechurch.org/sermons)
4. Four Pillars of Walking with God by Paul Washer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7gVDRhzE8nw
This message is convicting and very, very sweet. Brother Paul reminds us that God’s love is not dependent on us, but on Him! The more we know Him the more wonderful He gets, and that should be the source of our joy. Then we will WANT to obey God; it won’t be a thing of duty or compulsion, but a willing act of love for the One who so loves us.
5. Bravehearted Voices Podcast: https://braveheartedchristian.com/podcasts/bravehearted-voices
This podcast is a collection of sermons from men and women of God both living and dead. They cover all kinds of topics, but each one is sure to convict and inspire and call you to a deeper walk with Jesus and greater love for Him. If someone wants to listen to sermons from a variety of speakers, this would be a great podcast to go to. Sadly, they’ve stopped updating it; but there are about 35 sermons already a part of this podcast, so there’s plenty to listen to!
I hope that others will be blessed by these! Thank you so much for doing this, TR; I’m really excited to see what others will recommend and maybe discover a few new favorite sermons. 🙂

Haha, I have a feeling that eventually I would have recommended every one of these to you. XD
By the way, if you do end up using my suggestions, would you mind adding something to the first one, Ten Shekels? A small paragraph I think some might find helpful:
This is an old recording and it can be difficult at times to understand what Reidhead is saying. I recommend having a transcript available to read along with or to reference as you listen. You can find a copy here: http://www.heavenreigns.com/pdf/ten_shekels.pdf

This is a wonderful add on. My plan is sets of 5 suggestions 🙂 so I’ll have a spotlight entirely on your suggestions and I’m hoping more people actually take advantage of the 5 or so suggestions ❤ so I'm glad you went all the way!!! 🙂

Father Mike Schmitz: “The Hour that Will Change Your Life”: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LwwiIkrLxTM&t=1178s This is one of the most incredible talks I have ever heard. As Father Mike goes back to talk about the importance of the Eucharist we are in a sense transported back to that time. This talk particularly is able to open your eyes to things that you may not have been able to see before. It is truly beautifully said, and everyone should see it.

Thanks for sharing 🙂 so to be featured I need you to send a description of specific sermons you would recommend with direct links to those sermons. I know the page you shared has descriptions with links to those specific sermons, but I’m looking for more specific description in your comment on which sermon(s) you would recommend with direct links. You can suggest up to five 🙂 thanks for sharing!!

Well, I would feel sort of odd recommending myself! haha. Not really looking to be featured. But since sermons are being shared just thought I’d share my link in the comments – in case anyone wanted to take a listen.
