One Stone, Many Ripples | Poem

(Here the musical version sung by Hayley Boden here.)

I am only one stone

but I have caused many ripples.

Some I never see.

Some I’ve seen in triple.

I may not be the ripple,

which journeys far.

Yet, because I moved forward,

another can reach the stars.

I used to feel jealous,

being the starting piece.

Until the One that formed me,

said without me His plan would cease.

He desired for me to begin

so He could help someone in the end.

“It isn’t about you,” He said

smiling, “it’s the reason why I send.”

“My love will reach all peoples,

and, yes, it starts with one.

Have you forgotten?

That’s why I gave you My Son.”

This was inspired by a talk I had with fellow blogger and close sister in Christ Grace of Following Him Beside Still Waters. We have a collab coming out next week, and I was inspired to do a poem along with a post. The post will come out next week talking about this topic more in depth, and she will be sharing a dream, which was the inspiration!

God will use us, and Christ showed how we can be used by God. We may not always know the outcome of how we are used, but God does. Through it, He is glorified.

Do you ever see God use others in ways you wished He’d use you?

Monthly Scripture – (NIV) 2 Corinthians 4:02, “Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience in the sight of God.”

  1. Amen! I have heard some people say that we are not necessary, that God does not need us. Maybe he doesn’t need us, but we are part of his design and plan for reaching people with the love, grace and mercy of our Lord Jesus. So that, in my opinion, makes us all necessary. And, I believe that is supported in 1 Corinthians 12 where it says – The eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you,” nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.”
