Wanting Someone To Go To Hell (Or Pointing Fingers At Hypocrites) May Put YOU In Hell

T. R.’s Note To Reader– Please understand, we really need to look at our OWN lives with this post. Not others. That’s kinda the whole point. However, I do have a note about healthy boundaries at the bottom. 

They did awful things and hurt others. They deserve to go to Hell! I can’t wait! 

Or maybe you don’t want the person to go to Hell. Instead, pointing fingers at those who have hurt you, especially the hypocrites and fallen. How dare they not show the love of Christ! How dare they hurt others using His name! They are the ones turning people against Christ!

(NIV) Matthew 6:12, “And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.”

(NIV) Matthew 18:32-33,  ‘You wicked servant,’ he said, ‘I canceled all that debt of yours because you begged me to. Shouldn’t you have had mercy on your fellow servant just as I had on you?'” (Referring to the master, Christ, forgiving the servant with a large debt, the sinner.)

No, there’s no real soft way to talk about this issue because the truth of the matter is I do not want people to feel comfortable with this topic. I do not want anyone to wallow in bitterness and anger. I do not want ANYONE to think it’s OKAY to find comfort in someone going to Hell. 

Because I can PROMISE you, this way of thinking and seeding these thoughts in your heart DELIGHT THE DEMONS! And…just guess where the demons are… 

Discord & Hidden Hypocrisy In Church Body! 

THERE IS SO MUCH DISCORD because people are hurt and instead of seeking to forgive the offender, they find comfort from validating their feelings. Grouping together with those who have also been hurt. I see Christian pages on social media that point fingers at hypocrites! Jesus loves the hypocrites, too! 

All the “wounded” now stand on one side crying out how others have thrown stones at them… all the while…throwing stones at those who hurt them.

Guess what! It’s really easy to become a hypocrite and not know it! 

It’s really easy to sin when we are focused on the sins of others and how that has affected us.

(NIV) James 2:13, “because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment.”

God Will Not Give Us Mercy If We Can’t Give Mercy

Mercy is the willingness to spare others. To spare those who DO NOT DESERVE IT! 

How can we desire God to show us mercy when we aren’t willing to show mercy to others?

God won’t. It’s as simple as that. God will not show us mercy. Our judgment will not have mercy.

Christ died for His accusers. He asked God to forgive them at the cross! Are we showing even a little of what He did?

I know it’s hard as our flesh wars against our spirit. We naturally want to be focused on ourselves and everything people did to us. We struggle with pain. But this is what it means to serve Christ and others first. This is what it means to be humble. To forgive. 

Those who go to Hell for their sins because they did not seek Christ and repent, without giving these same sinners mercy and forgiveness, we may be their next door neighbor. All because we did not seek Christ, reflect Him, and repent.

It won’t matter. Our once “delight” at hoping they “get what they deserve” becomes our horror when God determines we get WHAT WE DESERVE because we did not show mercy!

Are We A Hidden Hypocrite?

Don’t be fooled believer, like I said, just because we don’t wish Hell on a person does not mean we are in the clear. 

Have we truly forgiven those who have hurt us the way Christ forgave us on the cross?

• Without an apology or someone seeking our forgiveness
• Without a change from the person or group, they may stay the same
• Are we Christlike towards them genuinely? 
• Are we willing to potentially get hurt again? 
• Have we sought the Lord on our feelings and thoughts?

Mercy has no restrictions in the same way real love has no limits.

We must always keep giving. We must always keep pouring out. This is why WE MUST BE FILLED BY CHRIST CONTINUALLY! The world and people will drain us! They’re supposed to, that’s what sin does! We need to stop being ignorant that everyone around us is going to have the love of Christ 24/7.

WE DO NOT ALWAYS HAVE THE LOVE OF CHRIST! How can we expect that from others?

Even if we have sinful thoughts, judgment, lust, whatever against others, and we think because we haven’t said it out loud or acted on it that it’s not as bad. God still KNOWS! He is not pleased with us, in the same way, as if we had verbally or physically done something.

It is Christ and ONLY Christ who fills us completely. He wants us to draw close to Him! He wants our eyes on Him! Not THEIR sin!

When we focus on sin, even the sin of others, guess where our eyes and hearts are? On sin!

We’ve opened a door with a trap. Ready to catch us as soon as we walk in.  

Looking At The Sin Of Others Makes Us Sinful When We Try To Justify Pain 

If we are focusing on darkness then darkness will pull us in! It taints us from the inside out clouding the truth. 

Us- “But God they hurt me! They hurt others!”

God- “You’ve hurt Me. You’ve hurt others, too. But I forgave you, and when you come to Me and repent I forgive you. What excuse do you truly have?”

None. We don’t have a reason, just excuses, and pointing fingers. 

Murderers. Rapists. Pedophiles. Cheaters. Those who chose addiction over our family. Those who chose money. Those who are bitter against us. Those who only care about themselves. Hypocrites.

Everyone.

They all, if they repent and seek forgiveness from God, will be shown mercy. Just like us.

Corrie Ten Boom Forgave Her Betrayers Like Jesus

Corrie was a part of the Underground, referring to a secret group of people who helped those in WWII. They hid Jews, helped with ration cards, etc.

There was a man who came to her and said that he needed an amount of money to save his wife. Corrie gave all she had and asked those around her to help with the sum. When she turned over the money, she unknowingly was turning her, her family, and others in.

God revealed to her that she had to forgive the man, which was a struggle. She admitted it was only through the Holy Spirit that she could, and she finally did seeking God’s forgiveness. In fact, she wrote to the man and told him how she forgave him. In turn, to her surprise, he wrote back and shared how he became a believer. He saw Christ’s forgiveness through her and died a believer. 

Corrie Ten Boom’s – The Holy Spirit Gives Power (Please Listen If You Are Struggling To Forgive Or Just Need Encouragement Of God’s Power)  

If We Can’t Forgive Others, God Won’t Forgive Us 

We are not the only ones who have an opportunity for His mercy just because we think we’re “better”. We all fall short. The final judgment is His, but if we go around and condemn others we will be condemned from our judgments and our idols of pain.

Please do not forget that before Paul became Paul, he was a religious hypocrite, too. He thought he was giving God glory when he wasn’t. We all can be guilty of this. We don’t have to struggle with legalism. We just have to struggle with the flesh.

Just so everyone knows, this speaks to me, too. 

YOU CAN STILL HAVE HEALTHY BOUNDARIES– I’m not saying to not have healthy boundaries. We need them. Some relationships will be cut off for good reasons. Forgiving an abuser does not allow that abuser back in your life. We are told to not throw our pearls to swine. In saying this, remember, this is about our heart, and being Christlike.

(NIV) Luke 6:37, “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven.”
