Sunshine Blogger Award

I was nominated, last year, by the kind and loving Sue!

Sue’s blog is a series of devotions and poetry giving glory to God and pointing the truth of scripture against this wicked world. Sue has been a very special sister in Christ as well as a very special grandmotherly figure in Christ. God has definitely used her to encourage, edify, and challenge me to draw closer to Him.

The Sunshine Blogger Award is a way for readers to get to know the blogger better, as the blogger answers a series of 11 questions asked by the nominator.

These are Sue’s questions to me:

1 What led you to become a blogger?

I had started to blog from 2014 to 2016 on a site that no one heard of. In 2016, while writing my first novel, I decided that I need to use a platform that would reach more people. The book series I wanted to write, and am working on, is meant to encourage and guide believers, but I felt that in the meantime I needed another way to reach others. I felt led to WordPress in February of 2016, but it was not until June of that year I wrote my first post.

2 What is the story behind the name of your blog?

I chose Inside Cup because I wanted it to represent the cleansing within that takes place after we have begun a relationship with Jesus Christ. Ever since I was 13, I felt called for believers and to discuss the topics often people don’t want to talk about. The ones that often are convicting and prickly that draw us closer to God and demand we surrender all to Him. The scripture in which Jesus talks about the outside of the cup and the inside seemed to fit very well with what He was leading me towards.

3 What is the purpose of your blog, i.e. what is it about?

Oops, I kinda already answered this. To guide believers to a truer walk with Jesus.

4 Who are you? How would you describe yourself?

I am the daughter of a King who sacrificed Himself for me and others. I would describe myself as observant, wanting to help others with their problems, an oddball, and lacking confidence. This is something God continues to work with me on.

5 What is your belief system? Do you believe in God? Why?

Christian. I believe the Bible completely. Holiness doctrine. I believe in the God of Abraham. The God who sent His only begotten Son Jesus to save the world so that those who repent, turning away from sin, and drawing close to Jesus could have eternal life.

6 Are you a follower of Jesus Christ? If so, tell what that means to you.

I am. It means a great deal to me. If you took out all of the things God has done in my life, and all of the ways that He has transformed me, well, I would not be the person who is typing this. I don’t know what that person would look like or act like. Jesus is life. He’s my life. If I didn’t have Him, it would destroy me. The one Constant to my every waking day and my sleeping hour is He. I don’t know how else to describe it. There really are no words. It’s deeper than words.

7 What do you do? Do you have a career outside the home, or are you a stay-at-home mom or wife, or are you a volunteer or a retiree, etc.?

I am a stay at home wife. I write. I keep house. I have Bible Studies every week in my home, through Skype. I keep pretty busy despite the stereotypes of what people think.

8 What fulfills you the most? The least?

Jesus, without a doubt. You know, I have to say myself. I definitely rely on my flesh a lot, but truthfully, when my accomplishments are all about me, they tend to always be very short-lived.

9 What motivates you the most? The least?

I’m not sure exactly what motivates me the most. It should be salvation and growth in Jesus. I mean, eternity is a pretty big deal. But I definitely struggle with the flesh desires regarding motivation. Getting things done is my motivation to start stuff.

The least? Being tired or lazy, definitely doesn’t motivate me.

10 What is the most important message you wish to communicate?

Well, that’s a pretty deep question.

Even when you feel like Jesus is distant, He isn’t. It is so crucial we examine ourselves and be willing to admit where we come short. Surrendering to the Lord is vital. Don’t allow darkness in your life just because you feel “you’re not convicted” when the material or activity is clearly not giving glory to God.

11 If you were to die tonight, do you have the assurance that you will spend eternity with God in heaven? If not, and you want that assurance, please feel free to talk with me about it, and I will be glad to show you the way.

First, Sue, praise Jesus for you! Second, yes. There have been many times throughout the years I’ve always wondered, but I continue to see God’s assurances in His words. Repentance is needed to be with Jesus, but when we are doing what we are supposed to do, as instructed in scripture (there’s a lot, read your bible!), there is no reason to fear that God wouldn’t keep His word. We have assurance in Jesus, not a spirit of fear.

  1. Thanks, T.R. I enjoyed reading your answers. I enjoyed reading the questions, too, since I asked them awhile ago, so I did not remember them at all. I like your honesty, your transparency in your answers, too. Good responses! Will read these again later. Love you! Sue
