Unheard Cries (Christian Poem)

Our corrupted body mirrors the images on the screen.

Violence, lust, selfishness.

We tremble inside with unheard cries

because the Savior is not near.

No. He won’t hear the sinner

who refuses and rejects His name.

Our prayer, like our life, is a vapor.

Unseen. Unheard. Tainted.

How was I to know?

The world praises self-esteem.

Find worth inside our heart.

But all I find is ash and brokenness.

My strength crumbles before it surfaces.

“Make an impact. Leave a legacy. Find your greatness.”

The world proclaims and grins.

“You’re special. You’re worth it.

And we don’t believe in sin.”

Explain the devastation.

Explain the fall of man.

Nothing supernatural, you say?

The goo of randomness made you and the zoo?

No, Designer. Forget the patterns of DNA.

No, Creator. It was random. Come what may.

We are the ones in control.

We are the ones who make the weak whole.

Oh, but the pain. The ache and the empty.

Pills can dull. Health may help.

But it’s not forgotten, and it’s not healed.

We could have everything and still be nothing.

I have seen a war

between shepherds and demonic wolves.

I didn’t know the difference before

until I began to hear His word.

It’s kinda funny, you know?

Seeking the truth around the world.

Everyone claims they each have a piece of truth.

Yet, truth is not divided. It is what it is, it’s not uncouth.

And out of all the “truth” in the world

only one makes sense.

The rest explain why the world

believes in self-worth, greatness, and selfishness.

The world is of works, yet Christianity is different.

Instead of what we do, we find our efforts are all loss.

The Law proves we are not good but unworthy,

and those of the Law are burned up like dross.

Yet, One who took our form

and proclaimed to be God.

He was perfect mirroring the Law

and the Perfect Man died for all.

Jesus didn’t proclaim to be a Prophet.

He didn’t proclaim to be good.

He said only God is good and

others praised Him for it.

Christ, meaning Anointed One, didn’t allow us

to like only part of Him.

We either choose Him wholly or

reject Him completely.

We either believe He is God

or He was crazy.

But we cannot make Him half.

Do not make the King of kings, God, laugh.

And here it is, a full circle.

We were born mirroring the world, the sinful man.

But Christ bore the Law on His shoulders

our penalty of sin.

Do we believe in what He proclaimed?

Are our eyes opened to the truth?

Because in Christ we can cry out

and we can be forgiven.

Only in Jesus are we heard.

Only through the resurrection of the Savior

are we justified. Come to Him, weary sinner

and the Savior will draw near.

But on our own it’s useless.

Our best is filthy rags.

Our worth is worthless

for we tainted the image we were made in.

Jesus is the difference.

Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.

Our Intercessor, who is also Judge, counts

us worthy, only when we are born of His Spirit.

Accept the fact we are empty.

Accept the fact we are unworthy.

Nothing we do matters… unless

it comes through the One Who does.

(NIV) Matthew 28:19-20, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
