Breaking Down The Gospel (New Series) & Plea To Christian Bloggers

It is beyond saddening that so many American proclaimed Christians and others in the world do not fully understand the Gospel. America is now a place in which we need the missionaries to come to us, this is the sad truth. I, myself, did not fully understand certain concepts of the Gospel until this year. I thought I did but I could not explain them well, and realized how problematic this becomes when someone is asking us deep questions related to the Gospel. This is also why knowing the sinner’s prayer is not sufficient because the sinner’s prayer is not in-depth enough for many people who have questions about the Gospel.

Now, knowledge alone does not save us, faith in Christ does. However, knowledge and the wisdom of God is so desperately needed for the Christian because often we lack knowledge and wisdom, not realizing what the Gospel actually is. Faith comes through hearing the word of God, and we need explanations.

  • (NIV) Romans 10:17, “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.”
  • (NIV) Acts 8:30-35, “Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip asked. “How can I,” he said, “unless someone explains it to me?” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him. This is the passage of Scripture the eunuch was reading: “He was led like a sheep to the slaughter, and as a lamb before its shearer is silent, so he did not open his mouth. In his humiliation he was deprived of justice. Who can speak of his descendants? For his life was taken from the earth.” The eunuch asked Philip, “Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?” Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus.”

Without this understanding, we cannot put true faith into Christ because we lack. We are thirsty and we hunger, and our source of truth is empty. We do not understand how wretched we are. We do not understand why a loving Father killed His Son. We do not understand what justification, redemption, and propitiation is.

We do not understand the depth of the Gospel is so far beyond simply our sins being forgiven. It is beyond a four-step “sinner’s prayer.”

Christian bloggers, I beg you, please cover the Gospel on your blog. Please, study in-depth these Biblical concepts and understand the Gospel well. Leave those posts at the bottom of every new post. Have the truth available. Have resources available.

If our readers are trying to reach out to the Father, and yet are condemned in their sin, while we have the opportunity to help them, may God help us and open up our eyes.

(NIV) John 14:06, “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Forget our talents and different callings. Remember that we all are called to share the Gospel.

(NIV) Mark 16:15, “He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.”

(ESV) Proverbs 21:28, “A false witness will perish, but the word of a man who hears will endure.”

(NIV) 2 Corinthians 4:13-15, “It is written: “I believed; therefore I have spoken.” Since we have that same spirit of faith, we also believe and therefore speak, because we know that the one who raised the Lord Jesus from the dead will also raise us with Jesus and present us with you to himself. All this is for your benefit, so that the grace that is reaching more and more people may cause thanksgiving to overflow to the glory of God.”

  1. I’m glad to hear that. Sometimes I encounter individuals, mostly from cults, when asked what the Gospel is and they usually reply that the Bible is the entire Gospel. They’re not entirely wrong, but at the same time, what drives them to say that is that they believe that the commandment must be obeyed to be saved. They deny salvation by Faith Alone, dismissing it as “Easy believism” and Antinomianism,

And then you have what you’ve just mentioned, the Hebrew Roots groups where not just the moral commandments needs to be followed but the ceremonial commandments as well.

Finally the Roman Catholics, but you know them already.

    1. Ah, okay, I understand why you asked now! Thank you for clarifying. We see Gospel begin from when God told Eve from her seed a man would crush the serpent’s head. We see Jesus referred in Genesis as an Angel of the Lord, as He speaks in a way declaring Himself to be God, no angel can do this. And then later, like you mentioned, prophecies of the coming Messiah. Like the book of Hebrews says, there are types and shadows and it’s amazing to go over each one in the Bible. To see the Old Testament type and shadow of what is to come in the New Testament.

I recently got the book Kingdom of the Cults for Christmas, heavy read, but I look forward to seeing how religions are cults, more in depth. Last year I finished a more basic 101 on religions and where they fall short compared to Christianity. I also have particular groups I have been studying from godly men, one being Mike Winger on YouTube. Roman Catholicism and some Catholic practices as well, he’s covered in videos. Mike has a few videos on the Hebrew Roots movement, and I enjoyed some of the scriptures shared because it helped me have an understanding in some topics other groups struggle in as well.

      1. I completely agree with what you’ve said there about how Jesus was there in Genesis. He was there and spoken of in creation, Adam and Eve, and He was definitely called “The Angel of the LORD”.
With that, the reason why I agree to the notion that the Bible is the Gospel is because the Gospel is Jesus Christ, and since everything in the Bible is written about Him (Luke 24:27), the Bible in that respect is the Gospel. In a nutshell, the Gospel is listed in 1 Corinthians 15:1-5. The Old Testament in one way or another down to individual stories are stories of redemption that leads to the cross.

You seemed to be an aspiring apologist; perhaps more specifically, a counter cult evangelist. 🙂 It;s wonderful that the Kingdom of the Cults was gifted to you and that you’re listening to Mike Winger.
I also am beginning to listen to Mike Winger when I’ve watched a video interview done by Alisa Childers. in the two part video, Mike ad Alisa rebuts every Christian Liberal memes and that’s when I become interested in listening to him

      2. In the beginning was the Word. Amen.

I have also enjoyed Pastor Chris from Fighting 4 The Faith. Doreen Virtue, Michelle Lesley, Melissa Dougherty, Marcia from CANA (she has been interviewed by Doreen a few times), Alan from Polite Leader and others. Yes, I have been learning Christian Apologetics and I hope to share more as I grow. I enjoy Alicia’s work as well.

      3. Wow, over half of those you’ve mentioned I also listened to; Doreen Virtue, Melissa Dougherty, Polite Leader. and F4F! Since you’ve mentioned it, I’ll check out CANA

You are far more equipped than most Christians I’ve seen. Have you heard of “American Gospel: Christ Alone”? If you haven’t. I highly recommend it!

      4. I have seen both American Gospels 😊 very much enjoyed them! I also enjoy pastors like Pastor Tim Conway, Paul Washer, Steve Lawson, James White (I may not agree with everything, but the man knows his stuff!)

I also listen to or read Tim Challies, RAD Apologetics, Red Pen with Mr. B, Allen (The Beat) and others. 🙂 I’ve been so grateful for all the resources available. I hope you enjoy Marcia’s site!!!

      5. That’s great! I’ve seen the first but not yet the second. I’m waiting until a friend is avaiable so we can see the latter.

Oh wow, I’ve watched videos from all those men, except RAD Apologetics! Among those you’ve mentioned, Paul Washer is my favorite along with Steve Lawson!

As for Marcia, I am enjoying the site very much. With the women that you’ve mentioned, Doreen Virtue is my hero, she’s such a inspiration, but Martia will definitely be my go-to reference with regard to the Occult and more. There’s a video I wanted to watch on Youtube, Doreen was interviewing her on the Enneagram and I’m really looking forward to watching it. 🙂

With that said, I’ve finally around to working on the Gospel with regard to God. Reading yours finally gave me the push to work on it, Thank you!

RAD I don’t know if he has a Youtube but he has both Instagram and Facebook, at least.

Yes, my first introduction to Marcia was the Enneagram! And then she has been back for one or two more vids of Doreen. Her website has been so informative. I follow hee on Facebook and appreciate being able to share her posts with others to inform.

I am so glad you are encouraged to write about the Gospel! I’m encouraged as well! All praise to the Lord!!!

      7. I’ll look RAD up, I’m sure his page will be useful me, and it is amazing how you’ve also found her through your interest in learning about the Enneagram, and here we are talking about it briefly. 😉

Well this is certainly not a meeting y accident, God used it to encourage both of us in our walk and evangelistic endeavor! I’ll look forward to reading more of your blogs soon.

Take care siste,r and God bless!

  2. Hi T.R. Noble, I’m glad to find another person also concerned about the lack of understanding about the Gospel amongst Evangelicals. I believe it had to do with pragmatism; they are taught a very simple and quick version of it so they can almost immediately share it.

They know that God loves them; good; and that they’re sinners, also good; but they don’t know why, but only that the Bible says that they’re sinners in Romans 3:23.

I’ve already written about the problem, but have yet to write in detail about the one that is most missing in those Gospel presentations – God.

Thank you for encouraging your readers to include the Gospel in their blogs. It is central to our beliefs as Christians.

    1. The core of Jesus Christ is so important and it amazing to see how He is in everything. From beginning of Old Testament to end of New Testament. The Gospel is much deeper than many are taught and it is light enough for a child. I pray we all grow in the truth.

      1. Yes, it is amazing how much Jesus Christ was spoken of in the Old Testament. It is not just the prophecies that were given speaking of His 1st and 2nd coming, but His life in between, and who He is.

There is a lot more to that as well. I don’t know how much, and I think we’re in fact only scratching the surface of scripture without erroneously spiritualize the text.

And in a way, the whole Bible is the Gospel as it speaks of the character of God, His attitude against sin, how impossible the law is to be kept, the coming savior, and the key to salvation,, All of it is illustrated in Israel’s history in how by grace they were chosen, how oft they’ve failed Him, how He will save them, and how ultimately they will be saved.

However, just to be sure, do you believe that the Gospel includes the commandments to be saved?

      2. I agree that the whole Bible is about God and it points to Jesus, the Savior. If by commandments you mean all Old Testament commandments, no. I do not believe in the Hebrew Roots movement. I believe through God’s inspired word through the apostles in the New Testament we see what Christians are to follow.

  3. T.R., thank you for writing this. I facilitate women’s Bible studies and continue to be amazed at the women who have been Christians for decades and do not understand basic concepts. Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. Karen
