Lately, I’ve been thinking about salvation and what it means to be unworthy. Some believe we can enter Heaven on good works that we have to try really hard, make something of ourselves, etc, and we can walk through the gates. Good works do not add to our value. The truth is, our value, our worth, was tainted because of sin. Every single person falls short. We are all sinners and we are all condemned because of sin.
Yet… while we were still sinners, Christ died for us because we were unworthy. My dear friends, our value, our hope, is found in the Savior, Jesus Christ. He is why we celebrate Christmas, and it is to Him this poem is about.
Because I was unworthy
the Father saw the concern.
No one could become pure
and for that reason, all would burn.
Because I was unworthy
God told Eve in the beginning.
Her seed would crush the Serpent’s head.
From the line of David, a King would be appearing.
Because I was unworthy
a babe was born in Bethlehem.
His parents offered a poor man’s sacrifice.
Not knowing thorns would be His diadem.
Because I was unworthy
a God Man walked this earth.
He taught forgiveness and repentence,
explaining the purpose of His birth.
Because I was unworthy
and the earth delighted in darkness.
He was falsely accused many times,
as He prepared to become the winepress.
Because I was unworthy
He dripped with sweat and blood tears.
Pleading the Lord spare the cup,
for He knew the wrath would be severe.
And on that cross my Savior died
because I was unworthy.
Becoming a curse upon the tree.
Consuming the wrath that was meant for me.
Because I was unworthy
my Savior conquered sin.
His resurrection, my justification.
Only through Christ can we enter in.
Because I was unworthy.
My Savior took on flesh.
So that He could break Satan’s hold,
which is the power of death.
Because I am unworthy
I put my faith in Christ Jesus.
He transforms me, and makes me whole.
Adopted by the King, a daughter of God.
This is me, this is us.
To all who believe.
Merry CHRISTmas!!!
Monthly Scripture To Ponder/Memorize From Daniel 9 – (NKJ) Daniel 9:18, “O my God, incline Your ear and hear; open Your eyes and see our desolations, and the city which is called by Your name; for we do not present our supplications before You because of our righteous deeds, but because of Your great mercies.“

Great post. I for one am certainly glad getting into Heaven doesn’t depend on what I bring to the table. Praise God for His grace and mercy and the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. Blessings.

Merry Christmas! Thank you for sharing the gospel message that we are ALL unworthy at the foot of the cross of Jesus Christ! But as He atones completely for all our unrighteousness, His worth is poured into us by His blood! Therefore we are made worthy because He transforms us, makes us whole, and calls us sons and daughters of the Most High God! Hallelujah!

Thanks for the insight. Though unworthy, God has redeemed and delivered us. Now that is good news.
Merry Christmas.
