Ink that is steady.
Words made clear.
Flows like it’s ready.
Structure, its steer.
Suddenly
Emotions erupt. Blurry.
Unsteady.
Smear.
The pen is dry.
Nothing.
Effortless.
No words.
New ink.
Refueled.
Words come easy.
A writer’s gold mine.
Emotions.
Self-control.
Discipline.
What shall you choose?
As a Christian blogger and writer, I’ve noticed that just because words come easily does not mean a piece is well-written. If I am writing behind emotions, I can share a really bad piece because it’s mostly written from a pen dipped in ME ink. Wisdom is heavily encouraged in scripture and the only way to wisdom is to follow Jesus Christ. The path to Christ is narrow. It requires a shedding of self. We must be baptized unto His name, and in the waters of humility that both cleans our eyes and ears. This comes only from the Spirit.
When our pen writes the words that point to LIFE, nothing else matters because it’s all about Him. But are we staying near the Shepherd? Or do we become relaxed? Are we unsteady because we lack discipline and diligence? Go to the Shepherd! Read His word. Daily we must dip into the fountain of where living water comes from! We do not want to be dried up. We do not want to be vulnerable.
Christian bloggers, if Christ is our focus, He and His truth will show up in our writing. If He isn’t, our writing lacks the truth that points to fresh living water. When ink dries because the writer is dried up and drained, she needs to go to the SOURCE Who will help her!.
When the ink reflects the blood of living waters, there is so much more. What are we giving our readers? Are we pointing them to eternity? Are we encouraging them, and ourselves, to have eyes on eternity? Are we focused on Christ because He is the only way we can have those kind of eyes? Do we love Him daily and understand why?

A great post and I loved the poem. I especially like what you said about when writing comes easily, it doesn’t mean the writing is well-written. This is so very true!

Thank you! Yes, it’s a hard truth of writing we must admit and examine.
