I know the past 2 weeks have been heavy with my concerns regarding the show The Chosen. Though repetitive, I hope this week was helpful with breaking up the original post into portions, especially for those who struggle with reading long posts. So now, I have something fun I’d like to do.
Community is important. Finding godly men and women to listen to is important. I’d like to start recommending videos on a weekly basis. Videos that I’ve found to be really helpful. Although this series is “video recommendation,” I may add or share a source of media not directly video related.
I really miss sharing resources with you. For a few years, I have done Community Spotlights and Song Sundays. The issue was many Christian songs I promoted were written under bad theology. The same was true with Community Spotlight. This does not mean everyone I promoted had bad theology, but a large portion did. I do not want to promote Emotionalism or anything that is itching to the ears and deceiving. I want to promote the truth of Jesus Christ.
Which is all the more reason I need to start sharing more resources. Better resources.
Starting off this series, I want to share someone I have shared multiple times on this blog, and will continue to do so, Melissa Dougherty.
Melissa came out of the New Age. She understands the confusion of false converts who believe they are following a genuine Christianity, when it’s actually New Age. Her YouTube channel is packed full of awesome content.
Melissa is a critical thinker. She enjoys Christian Apologetics and breaking down the truth in a way that is simple to understand.
Melissa cares very much for those who are under deception. For example, she has a series on understanding the brainwashing of Jehovah’s Witnesses, and proper ways to communicate with them. Melissa cares deeply that those we disagree with we understand. The importance of understanding opposing views helps us understand the perspective of others better, and it helps us ask better questions. (Actually, the video recommendation discusses these same things, as well.)

She’s interviewed some amazing people, and the video I want to recommend today is: When Lies Become Truth And The Monsters It Makes Us | Melissa Dougherty.
In the description box of the video, it beings with this, “What do you do when suddenly everything in your culture gets turned around? We’re finding more and more people embracing blatant lies thinking it’s the high moral ground. As language becomes less expressive, minds are more easily controlled.”
Melissa interviews Greg Koukl. He has been promoted a few times on my blog, as well. The reason being he is the author of, “Tactics.” (Check out the book here.) “Tactics,” is a book all about learning how to ask better questions to those who have different views. It’s about listening to others and understanding their positions. I highly recommend getting and reading the book. It’s less than 10 bucks on Amazon, no sponsor, but you need this book.
In the interview, Melissa asks Greg questions on why he believes America is shifting into a Soft Totalitarian government. What can Christians expect with a world that is constantly redefining terms? How does this connect to the past? How does this reflect God? What can we do?
The topic is a heavy topic, but I believe it is something we cannot ignore. Christians are being more and more restrained in America simply because, “I don’t like how that makes me feel.”
Hate is being redefined. What we consider to be kind and gentle is being redefined. Hypocrisy of relativism is everywhere.
