Since publishing, this is definitely one of the quickest posts to take off. Clearly, there is a lot of interest in the Enneagram. Since I first published this post, I have added multiple links and resources I hope they are useful to you.
I was completely unfamiliar with the Enneagram until I started hearing about it from a Christian YouTuber I watched. On the light side of the Enneagram, it’s presented harmless, like a personality test. But the reality is the enneagram has dark origins and it is something that no Christian needs to partake of. There are many churches who are using the Enneagram, and there’s no reason in the Bible that we should. In fact, the Bible tells us we shouldn’t, as the Enneagram promotes pride, division, among other demonic things.
Doreen Virtue, with Melissa Dougherty, interview Marcia Montenegro on understanding what is the Enneagram, its origins, and why is it such a problem for Christians.
The Enneagram (meaning 9 sided diagram) is lightly introduced to people as a personality test, but the origins of it is anything as light. It ties back to the occult and it has nothing to do with personality. Automatic writing is involved, in which demons interact as “spirits” and people communicate with them. The Bible warns against speaking to the dead and seeking after divination. Marcia created a blog Christian Answers for the New Age (CANA). She covers a ton of topics Christians might have about the New Age, or those involved in the New Age. Marcia breaks down, with excellent research, why these topics are NOT Biblical, and the dangers they present. She also has a Facebook page often sharing her articles, too. This is just one of her articles on the Ennegram: The Ennegram GPS: Gnostic Path To Self If you would like to learn what the occult is, Marcia has a 4 page series on it. Occult: Brief Explainations of Various Terms & Concepts (pg.1).
One other resource to check out is Marcia’s book titled, “Richard Rohr and the Enneagram Secret,” the first chapter is free to read on the site. In the link, you can view Marcia’s experience with the Enneagram. The book explains how the church is under the false teaching that Church Fathers used the Enneagram, which is anything but true. Definitely check it out! Marcia has a ton of articles on Richard Rohr and his influence on church, as well, if you would like to learn more. Also, a fellow blogger C. T. Marcia came out of the New Age herself. She used to be very much involved with astrology. She understands very well how tempting things like the Enneagram are.

There has been quite an interest in this post and I think that just shows how much people have an interest in the Enneagram. I really hope the resources help them see the problems. And I’m glad people like Marcia continue to warn. 🙂 You’re right, Christians need to be discerning and accountable to all that we expose ourselves to. And sadly, when church leaders promoted this… the flock trusts them. It’s sad. We need to keep praying for people’s eyes to be opened to the truth.
