How many Christians struggle trusting that their salvation is alive? How many have questioned and doubted what Jesus Christ did on the cross?
The fact is assurance of salvation is a major topic that almost every believer might have questions about during their walk with Christ. It is a fairly common fear that Christians have. I certainly have experienced the doubt, and I know how crippling the enemy can use this fear and doubt against us.
I started following Darrel and Virigil about a month ago, and I’ve really enjoyed their content on Twitter and Instagram. I thought it was time for me to check out their podcast, “Just Thinking.”
The podcast is described as, “To be a Christian is, by definition, to possess salvation and all that it entails (forgiveness of sin, adoption as children of God, eternal reward in heaven, and much more). And yet, many professing Christians struggle to believe the promises that salvation brings because they don’t possess the assurance that they are saved to begin with. In this episode of the Just Thinking podcast, Darrell and Virgil (“Omaha”) show you from God’s Word that assurance can be yours forever.”

I will say, healthy challenges and debating can be wonderful for Christians, though. We can grow this way, as scripture says, “iron sharpens iron.”

But, as I see and observe lots are fighting, As I observed when we are sharing the gospel in public and private hospitals. as I discern that they are showing of boastfulness, high and mighty. but it is good. but not the point they are like in the court, debating. that’s why I don’t allow myself to those people. they think themselves, too much smart. and they are deceived, by the spirit of pride. healthy, and friendly debate is good.

I mean because most Christians I see in the Philippines until I am in the U.S. they said follow me in prayer: Lord Jesus I open my heart and accept you as my personal, LORD and Savior,. meaning there is no context or verses in the Bible said to follow on my prayer and said open my heart I accept you, personal Lord and Savior, in the bible by Faith Alone we are saved.

Yes, that is what a lot of people refer to as “The Sinner’s Prayer.” Like you said, there is no explanation of the Gospel. People do not really understand what Christ did, and therefore they cannot truly accept Him. They are blindly believing that they are saved by this one prayer. But it’s not real faith.

In the past, I thought to accept GOD as personal LORD and Savior in our life we call it we are saved already. but when GOD deeper and open my understanding. it is not biblical about Accepting God And Personal Savior in our lives. It is only a prayer of declaration. the only thing we are sure that we are saved. we believed by faith alone. that we are sinners, without Him we are saved. and we can see that there is a real transformation in life. that the fruit of the holy spirit is within that person. meaning there are changes, and most important. that person is not tired of always asking GOD for forgiveness. in seriousness, and heartedly, and about the struggle it is normal we struggle because it is also in the bible. carry our own, cross. and we need always to rely on the word of GOD. some Christians have visions, but when we ask them what the context or word of GOD. they said it is my feeling or whatever reason, that’s why there are a lot of Christians who are deceived, so we need to study deeper the word of GOD. that is the only thing we will not deceived, of the deceiver, are starting now to spread, that is also in the bible the enemy. I am not telling this I am smarter than other Christians, I am telling what the Faith that GOD give me.

Jesus is the Savior of all and you’re absolutely right, we are only saved through faith alone and grace alone through Jesus’ death and resurrection. All who put their faith in Him are imputed His righteousness and our debt of sin is paid in full. Those who truly put their faith in Christ receive the Holy Spirit who begins to transform them. As scripture says be transformed through the renewing of your mind. This happens only through reading scripture, the word of God. We must daily deny our flesh and follow Christ.
I completely agree with you that people who rely on emotions and experiences to affirm God are seeking after Contemplative Prayer/Spirituality. It’s subjective, not objective truth.
I’ve been writing a few posts on the topic and the problem with people seeking after spiritual experiences, instead of seeking God in His word. So, I totally agree with you.
In the podcast, it’s made very clear that the assurance of salvation Darrel and Virgil talk about is not related to saying a sinner’s prayer and boom you’re saved. I do not support that view, it absolutely is a lie and people are not saved this way. They do not support this view, either. And they do focus on people not understanding what scripture says. It’s a great podcast.
People are saved by understanding the Gospel and putting their faith in Jesus Christ. 🙂 Only Christ saves. Not a sinner’s prayer. Not by doing good works. Only Christ. And Jesus transforms the sinner and we do see fruit of righteousness come out of their life.
