You are good.
You are great.
I am not the one
who sees the same.
Open my eyes.
Convict my soul.
Help me understand.
You alone make me whole.
Help me praise You
through the day.
Help me be grateful
when things are not ok.
I am weak.
But You are strong.
You’re always right
even when I’m wrong.
I don’t understand
Your perfect ways.
I don’t understand
all the things You say
in Your Holy word,
but I know You’re true.
Please, make me a stronger believer.
Help me delight more in You.
This poem came out of a study I’ve been doing. There are a lot of problems with the study, but one thing I have been blessed with is seeing the importance of focusing on Christ and His word. We are not to be focused on ourselves because our minds and soul crash like a tidal wave. But Christ… He encourages us in a way we can’t encourage ourselves. He gives us strength to continue in a way we cannot find strength in ourselves. Truly, He is enough even if we feel like He isn’t. We are the ones with the issue, not Him. WE need our minds changed. He is enough.
The Gospel Message: With the Good News means there’s bad news. We all are sinners and condemned. We all deserve the just punishment of God’s wrath. Christianity is unlike any other religion because we cannot earn our way into Heaven. God saw the weakness of man and his utter depravity. Yet, He showed us grace. Jesus, God, One Person of the Trinity, became God in the flesh, the God-Man. He was always perfect and sinless. And His humanity was perfected on the cross, living the full sinless life. He became our atonement sacrifice. Dying in our place, taking on the wrath of God upon Himself. He died on the cross, and He was resurrected because death could not hold Him. Jesus is the answer. We, as guilty sinners, need His blood to pay off our debt of sin. For all who put their faith in Him – meaning eyes are opened to the Gospel, we see ourselves as a sinner, we see the need for Christ, we desire our Savior, and we see the ugliness of our sin. Putting our faith in Jesus, we seek HIs forgiveness and repent from our sins, we turn away from our old way of life. We, through the work of the Holy Spirit, continue to become convicted of sin daily. Our eyes will never be the same again. We see things in a different light, and the truth of Christ affects how we live and serve Him. Christ tells us to count the cost. Salvation is a serious topic, it is not to be taken lightly. Scripture To Meditate On – (ESV) Ezekiel 13:22-23 – Because you have disheartened the righteous falsely, although I have not grieved him, and you have encouraged the wicked, that he should not turn from his evil way to save his life, therefore you shall no more see false visions nor practice divination. I will deliver my people out of your hand. And you shall know that I am the LORD.”
