I have tried discussing this topic on my blog a few times, and every time people struggle with it. In the past, I’m sure there were better ways to word what I was trying to say. I know many of us struggle with liking our media a little too much, and I have found a post that clarifies a lot of what I wanted to share.
Tim Challies has posted a very convicting article on this topic and I invite you to hear what he has noticed.
Do we really think it’s ok to watch people become undressed? Do we think it is spiritual maturity to be numb to these scenes?
Check out his post | Are You Godly Enough To Look at Smut and if you read it, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

Excellent. He puts it well. I gave up watching contemporary movies, NetFlix, etc. I don’t miss it at all.
Blessings.

He really does put it well! Glad you enjoyed the article! There were many things I used to watch and I didn’t realize the bondage I was under until Christ broke me free.

This is the first I’ve heard of the idea that not watching smut is a weakness. It has nothing to do with legalism and everything to do with pleasing the Lord in your daily walk, obedience, and loving God. We must not conform to the world. If we read and study our Bible we won’t be confused on this point.

I agree! It was quite shocking to hear maturity means you can watch sinful things. Agreed! We are to walk the way of the Spirit, not the world. The Holy Spirit convicts us of sin, righteousness, and the judgment to come.
